VILLAGE
Las Galeras is situated at the North-eastern end of the Peninsula of Samaná, at about twenty kilometers of the Capital of the Province, Santa Bárbara de Samaná.
Some little houses flanked by coconut trees, the white sand beach, small fishing boats nonchalantly floating on crystalline water, some « casitas » where fresh fish is cooking and a sea with extraordinary green and blue tonalities.
This village is an immersion in a still wild and intact nature, an invitation to the quietness in a calm place of Dominican Republic.
Las Galeras is organized around a long main street – la Calle Principal - which ends on the beach.
Here we find some restaurants proposing international dishes as well as many small « comedores » (Dominican restaurants) serving local cooking.
Various shops offer local colored arts and crafts, two supermarkets and many « colmados » (groceries) are open until late in the evening, a French grocer sells delicatessen, wines and cheeses from Europe.
An Internet center, rent a car offices, two medical centers and a pharmacy take part of the services that we can find in Las Galeras.

The closest international Airport is El Catey.
Located at approximately 1:30 by car of Las Galeras. It is served by the following companies:
Then, you have the Las Américas International Airport in Santo Domingo, which thanks to the new road (red line on the map) is situated at approximately 2:30 of the village.
In Las Américas, the principal American and European airlines companies are landing.
Then it is the Gregorio Luperón Airport of Puerto Plata, at approximately 4 hours by car of the Peninsula of Samaná.
Far-off, is the Punta Cana International airport.
From the principal airports, it is possible to reach the Peninsula of Samaná (Airports of Arroyo Barril - Samaná and El Portillo in Las Terrenas) thanks to the services of little planes through domestic companies AERODOMCA, VOLAIR and TAKE OFF.

Wherever you are landing, Las Galeras can be reached by road.
From the various airports, to reach Las Galeras, there is possibility of taking either the bus, Caribe Tour or Metro companies or the « guaguas » (small typical public buses circulating only during the day), or then to take a tourist taxi or to rent a vehicle directly in the airport.
